• Wow, a whole month has past since my last update, time passes quickly when you're busy. It's the end of the first semester and I am slumped with work. For starters I have two short animation movies and a 3D character to model within the next three weeks. So the next update will probably be in a month or so, after finals.
• I've finally got my hands on Mortal Kombat: Deadly alliance for the
X-Box, I was a fanatic of the series when I was a kid, but it sort of went down since MK:Trilogy, which seemed slapped together. However I am really diggin the new Mortal Kombat, it seems that
Midway took the series and redesigned it from the ground up! What I especially like about the Mortal Kombat games, is the character designs, they have been some the of biggest and earliest influences on
my work, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden and all the other fighters.
It seems as if Midway is the only western fighting designer that can give the Japanese designers a run for their money. The old characters return looking better than ever, especially
Scorpion who looks like he has been spending a few hours at the netherrealm-gym each day. The new character designs are also cool, I especially like Mavado and Frost, however I do question some of the less inspired character designs like Hsu Hao
and Li Mei (though she is fun to play) and the lack of original bosses is also a bit of a pain, sorry but Moloch does not live up to Kintaro or Motaro, a more monstrous character would have been more welcome.
The western characters of MK are large and brutal, as opposed to the more graceful and characteristic characters of the east (as seen in Street Fighter and Soul Calibur). I like both styles, and it's wonderful to see a different type of fighting game. MK:DA is different from any other fighting game out there right now.
• Here's an update to the Jeriko project, A Model Sheet, Detail Sheet and Pose Sheet of Jeriko. And two animations including a walk cycle and facial expressions:
